Our Attorneys
A husband-and-wife team with deep Mississippi roots, fighting for just representation, just compensation, and just for you.
Deshun T. Martin, Esq.
“One of the first triplets in American history to graduate law school and pass the bar — together, on the same day. Featured on Oprah.”
Deshun was born in Edwards, Mississippi, one of a historic set of triplets. After losing his father at ten, he channeled that grief into discipline — graduating salutatorian of Raymond High School with a 4.2 GPA, then Jackson State University, then the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2004. That same year, Deshun and his triplet brothers Kenya and Warren Jr. became the first set of triplets in America to graduate law school and pass the bar together.
He spent the next decade as Special Assistant Attorney General under Jim Hood — Special Prosecutor, Director of the Child Desertion Unit, Lobbyist — before founding Martin & Martin, PA in 2014 at 228 East Capitol Street. A Deacon at Farish Street Baptist Church, Deshun's faith is central to both his life and his practice.
Vaterria M. Martin, Esq.
“Served as Municipal Court Judge for the City of Canton, Mississippi — and now uses that bench-side view to anticipate every move the defense will make.”
Vaterria is a Jackson native and a proud graduate of "THEE I Love" Jackson State University, where she earned a B.A. in English, Magna Cum Laude, in 2000. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2003 and began her career in insurance defense — the same carriers she now faces across the table on behalf of injured Mississippians.
In 2007 she launched her private practice in personal injury and family law. She has served as Municipal Court Judge for the City of Canton, as legal consultant for Catholic Charities, and as an adjunct professor of Business Ethics at Jackson State University. Together with her husband Deshun, she co-founded Martin & Martin, PA and serves as a Deaconess at Farish Street Baptist Church.
